RabotBiography After a DEC in visual arts at Collège Lionel-Groulx, a bifurcation in cabinetmaking and two years of sabbatical later, he began a BAC in comics at the University of Quebec in Outaouais from where he graduated in April 2015. Since then on his return to Montreal, he devoted himself to comics and illustration. He has published two books (À quoi bon (2017), Respire (2019)), fanzines, he illustrated a series of strips for ComédiHA! and also facilitated comic strip workshops. Artistic approach Rabot loves Cats, Dragonball, and House in Town. He is a freelance comic book author and illustrator based in Montreal. The family he was assigned to for the CABO project had explained that they had resided in their Victorian cottage for 20 years. Initially, they made their own compost in a wooden bin at the back of their backyard, until there was a rat infestation in the neighborhood. Subsequently, the borough made a change in waste management with the distribution of the brown bin that is still used today. For the realization of his work on the bin, he wanted to rediscover the wood look of their old compost bin, while making a nod to the anecdote of rodents. He added his touch by incorporating one of his favorite animals, the raccoon, which is also a fan of leftovers. He seasoned it all with the trashy elements of the compost, from bin juice, to rotting food and unwanted tenants. |
